Dispatch 2: Fallen Frontier & Perks (October 10, 2026)
Fallen Frontier is the second Dispatch, and it shipped alongside the biggest progression change since Class Mastery.
The event: every safezone on the map starts taken over — there are no safe stops for the full 80km run. The event ran 72 hours with daily escalations: on Day 2, safezone enemies gained +25% HP, and by Day 3 the Traveling Merchants and Wanderer's Camps stopped spawning entirely. Clearing a taken-over safezone progressed a personal rewards track and contributed to shared community goals.
The rewards track (personal milestones):
- Traveling Merchant at a 35% discount in Fallen Frontier mode
- +5 Bond payout for winning Fallen Frontier runs
- Frontiersman title
- Bounty Hunter Perk
- A sneak peek at the October 17 update
The permanent part — Perks. Unlike event boosts, Perks survive after the Dispatch ends. You have one perk slot, so the choice matters:
| Perk | Effect | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Frontier Credit | First purchase at each safezone is discounted | Loot-run economy players |
| Iron Skin | Take less melee damage | Frontline/fighter classes |
| Deep Pockets | More sack storage | Loot hoarders |
| Hardy | Take less ranged damage | Outlaw-heavy routes |
| Quick Witted | Move faster briefly after a kill | Hit-and-run playstyles |
| Bounty Hunter | Outlaw bounties pay more | Money-focused runs |
Perks can be upgraded with Bonds: 50 Bonds for Tier 2, 100 Bonds for Tier 3. Picking one is a build decision — Iron Skin compounds with melee classes, while Bounty Hunter turns bounties into a real income stream that stacks with our Bonds farming guide.
Safezone Takeovers & The Wanderer's Camp (October 3, 2026)
This patch added two map features that restructured how risky towns are:
- Safezone Takeovers — towns can now be pre-taken-over by Zombies, Occultists, or Outlaws before you arrive: hostile enemies, closed stores. The first 20km is always safe; 20–50km zones have a 30% takeover chance per safezone, and beyond 50km it's 50%. Takeovers are visible from a distance, so you can fight through for the loot or ride past. Clearing a town brings the merchants back.
- The Wanderer's Camp — a new always-safe friendly POI that appears next to every second safezone. Four NPCs: the Trailmother, Wandering Merchant, The Farrier (saddles, horse carts, and Horse-class items like Feed, Horseshoes, and the Horse Whistle), and The Vessel (Bones, Corpses, Bone Meal, and Ritual Ash — with Necromancer discounts). Ritual Ash gives a 1% chance per use of resurrecting dead enemies as allies, stackable 10 times per run.
This patch also previewed Dispatch 2, confirming the every-other-week cadence.
Dispatch 1: Permadeath Challenge (September 26, 2026)
The first Dispatch introduced the Permadeath Challenge, a 72-hour event where all reviving was disabled — class abilities, self-revive purchases, and bandaging downed teammates alike. Distance traveled in Permadeath Mode stacked into a personal cumulative total (up to 500km) paying 25 Bonds per checkpoint plus a lobby title, while the global community goal distributed free Bonds at three checkpoints. Days 2 and 3 escalated with faster zombies and more Special Enemy spawns.
Mechanically, the Dispatch established the template every later event follows: World Events + Rules + Challenges layered on the normal run, with personal and community reward tracks.
Class Mastery Batch 2: Horse & Necromancer (September 19, 2026)
Horse won the community poll and led this batch. Both classes gained 10-level mastery tracks:
- Horse — reworked around a Momentum passive: holding a straight line builds speed across three tiers (sharp turns, stopping, attacking, or taking damage reset it). Ability 1 Charge rushes forward damaging and knocking back everything in the path. Ability 2 Break Trail leaves a ground trail that speeds up teammates and slows enemies. New Herd Instinct passive draws up to 3 wild horses to follow you, rideable by teammates without a Saddle. Capstone Steady Gait downgrades turns and stops to a one-tier momentum drop instead of a full reset.
- Necromancer — reworked around the new Essence resource, gained from kills (melee kills worth more). Every resurrection costs Essence, including the passive one; raising the dead on an empty pool costs health instead. Early passive Dead Shot gives ranged kills a chance to reanimate the victim. Ability 1 Healing Wave burst-heals all minions. Level rewards include The Grimoire, a starting item that converts corpses into resurrected allies (holds 4 bodies). Ability 2 Raise Dead reanimates every corpse around you, and the Grave Legion passive raises the summon cap. Capstone Dominion lets minions' own kills occasionally raise allies of their own.
Our Class Mastery guide has the full perk tables for all six mastery classes.
Occultists Take Over Sterling (September 5, 2026)
The biggest single patch of the autumn — a new enemy faction and a class rework that still defines the meta:
- Occultists faction — two enemy types: Acolytes (staff melee) and Summoners, which spawn entities to fight for them. They wander the plains and hold the town of Sterling.
- Sterling rework — the Bank became an Occultist storage facility with new treasures behind the vault (including an item that heavily reduces damage from folklore enemies like Werewolves and Vampires — see our bank code guide for the vault mechanics). The Sheriff's Office is now the story command center, and the Church gained an offering table: trade any item for a weapon. Occultists drop sellable trinkets.
- Sterling Mines — lit with wall torches, plus a new excavated room behind a torch puzzle where you choose one of five artifacts: Deathless Charm (free self-revive), Ancient's Heart (fills with Devil's Tears), Occultist's Seal (Occultists won't attack until you do), Commanding Sigil (summon your own ghosts), or Cursed Ledger (better trinket prices).
- Vampire rework — the old permanent melee/speed passives were replaced by the Bloodlust meter, charged by killing enemies and getting covered in blood; buffs apply only while the meter has charge and decay slowly. Our Vampire rework guide covers the post-rework build.
Class Mastery Launch (August 15, 2026)
Class Mastery debuted with Cowboy, Doctor, Miner, and Vampire — 10 levels each, two abilities per class, one ability equipped at a time, activated with Q on PC. Each class picked a different design direction: Cowboy embraces the gunslinger fantasy (including a familiar lock-on elimination ability), Doctor is the traditional support with Healing Aura and Mass Revive, Miner splits between loot intel (Canary's Warning) and offense (Tremor Strike), and Vampire leaned into movement. The same patch reworked class fundamentals: Doctor's revives now transfer health to the revived ally (each successive revive transfers more — the fourth revive can drop you below 10% HP), and Vampire's Bloodlust rework was first announced here before landing on September 5.
Earlier 2026 Patches
- Mummies & Oases (July 25, 2026) — desert-themed content drop.
- Summer Heatwave (July 11, 2026) — seasonal event with heat mechanics.
- Boxing Gym (June 26, 2026) — new classes and the gym location.
What's Next: Ghost Train Dispatch (October 24, 2026)
The third confirmed Dispatch arrives Saturday, October 24, 2026. The announced premise: a ghost train travels parallel to your own, and raiding it is the event centerpiece. Everything else — exact hours, World Events, rewards, and how boarding works mechanically — is unannounced. Given the Fallen Frontier milestone structure, expect the details (and likely a fifth Perk-related reward) to surface through the in-game milestone track in the week before launch.
Preparation that isn't wasted: the event centers on trains running side by side, so working through the train upgrades guide and locking in your best class build are the two highest-value things you can do before the 24th.
