Dead Rails Dispatches Schedule: All Events & Dates
Dead Rails Dispatches schedule: Fallen Frontier live Oct 10-12, Ghost Train Oct 24, Permadeath recap. Dates & rewards.
What Is Dispatches in Dead Rails?
Dispatches is the official live event series in Dead Rails: every other Saturday, RCM Games ships a themed event with its own play window, and each one layers new World Events, new Rules, and new Challenges on top of the standard run. Three Dispatches are confirmed. The Permadeath Challenge ran on September 26, 2026. Fallen Frontier is live from October 10, 2026 at 12:00 PM ET through October 12, 2026 at 12:00 PM ET. Ghost Train arrives on October 24, 2026. The every-other-Saturday rhythm continues past the end of October, so this page tracks the complete Dead Rails Dispatches schedule and is updated as new events are announced.
| # | Dispatch | Date | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Permadeath Challenge | September 26, 2026 | Completed |
| 2 | Fallen Frontier | October 10-12, 2026 | Live now |
| 3 | Ghost Train | October 24, 2026 | Announced |
How the Dispatches Schedule Works
Dispatches run on a bi-weekly Saturday cadence and are deliberately slotted into the weekends between major updates. RCM Games shipped a rapid stretch of major content updates through mid-2026 — Boxing Gym with new classes on June 26, Summer Heatwave on July 11, Mummies & Oases on July 25, Class Mastery on August 15, and Occultists on September 5 — and Dispatches now fill the alternate weekends. The result is a schedule where something new lands roughly every two weeks: a full patch one weekend, a Dispatch the next.
Every Dispatch follows the same three-part structure:
- World Events — map-wide occurrences that change what happens out on the tracks while the event is live.
- Rules — modifiers applied to runs during the window, changing how you survive.
- Challenges — event-specific objectives with exclusive rewards for completion.
Each edition has a defined start and end time, and once the window closes, that Dispatch is gone for good. Fallen Frontier's window is a fixed three days; the Permadeath Challenge was September 26 alone. That makes the schedule worth planning around — a Dispatch you skip is a Dispatch you permanently miss.
Dispatch #1: Permadeath Challenge — September 26, 2026
The first Dispatch ran on Saturday, September 26, 2026, and it was the most brutal rule set the game has applied: you get one life. Revives were disabled for the entire event — no reviving downed teammates, no second chances. Survive to the end of the run and you earned exclusive rewards that only Permadeath players can claim.
The event window has closed, so the Permadeath Challenge can no longer be played. It is still worth understanding what it demanded, because the bi-weekly schedule means rule-heavy Dispatches can return in future editions:
- Run it like a solo run. With revives off, the right mindset is the one from our Dead Rails solo guide: never take a fight you don't need, and treat your health bar as a non-renewable resource.
- Respect the clock. A run covers 80 km of track, each in-game day lasts eight real minutes, and enemies only start spawning after 10:00 PM in-game time — signaled by wolf howls. Knowing that curve lets you plan looting and traveling around the safest hours.
- Know the route. The track is fixed, so players who had studied the Dead Rails map locations — which towns hold which loot and which stretches stay dangerous — had a clear edge when a single mistake ended the run.
If a one-life rule ever returns in a future Dispatch, those fundamentals are what carry a run to the end of the line.
Dispatch #2: Fallen Frontier — October 10-12, 2026 (Live Now)
Fallen Frontier is the second Dispatch, and it is live right now: the event opened on October 10, 2026 at 12:00 PM ET and closes on October 12, 2026 at 12:00 PM ET. That is a fixed three-day window — after Monday noon Eastern, the event is over and the boosts end with it.
The premise inverts the usual loop. Every safe zone has fallen, and the strongholds players normally treat as guaranteed shelter must be taken back over the course of the event. Runs during the window push you onto contested ground instead of letting you play it safe around danger, which makes every trip along the track more unpredictable than a standard weekend run.
Fallen Frontier also comes with its own World Events — scripted occurrences layered into runs — and a set of reward boosts:
- More Bonds — event play pays out extra Bonds, the premium currency behind classes and upgrades. If you have been putting off a purchase, this weekend is the time; our guide on how to get Bonds covers the rest of the grind.
- More XP — boosted progression for everything you do while the event is live.
- Exclusive items — rewards tied to Fallen Frontier that cannot be earned outside the window.
Because the boosts apply across the whole window, Fallen Frontier favors players who fit in several shorter runs between October 10 and October 12 rather than one long session on a single day. Our Dead Rails tips and tricks page covers the efficiency habits that help you get the most value out of a short session — useful when the clock on an event is ticking.
Dispatch #3: Ghost Train — October 24, 2026 (Announced)
The third confirmed Dispatch arrives on Saturday, October 24, 2026. The announced premise: players will loot a ghost train that travels parallel to their own team's train. You ride the rails alongside a spectral locomotive, and raiding it is the centerpiece of the event.
Everything beyond that premise is not yet announced:
- Exact start and end times for October 24 — not yet announced.
- The full list of World Events, Rules, and Challenges — not yet announced.
- Rewards, including any Bonds boosts or exclusive items — not yet announced.
- How raiding the ghost train works mechanically — not yet announced.
Based on how the first two Dispatches were announced, expect RCM Games to publish those details closer to the October 24 window. In the meantime, the sensible preparation is train-side: since the event centers on trains running side by side, working through the Dead Rails train upgrades guide during the two-week gap is the best way to arrive ready. Pair that with a refresher on the best strategy fundamentals, and you will be positioned for whatever the event throws at the tracks.
FAQ
What are Dispatches in Dead Rails?
Dispatches are Dead Rails' bi-weekly Saturday live events. Each Dispatch runs in a limited window, sits between major update weekends, and adds its own World Events, Rules, and Challenges to the game. Three are confirmed so far: the Permadeath Challenge on September 26, 2026, Fallen Frontier from October 10-12, 2026, and Ghost Train on October 24, 2026.
When is the next Dead Rails Dispatch?
As of October 10, 2026, Fallen Frontier is live until October 12, 2026 at 12:00 PM ET, and the next Dispatch after that is Ghost Train on October 24, 2026. The bi-weekly Saturday schedule continues past the end of October, with editions beyond Ghost Train not yet announced.
What time does Fallen Frontier start and end in Dead Rails?
Fallen Frontier opened on October 10, 2026 at 12:00 PM ET and closes on October 12, 2026 at 12:00 PM ET. All reward boosts — extra Bonds, extra XP, and exclusive items — are tied to that window, so runs completed after it ends fall outside the event.
Can you still play the Permadeath Challenge in Dead Rails?
No. The Permadeath Challenge was the first Dispatch and ran on September 26, 2026 only. Its rule — one life, no revives — applied during that event window, and the window has closed. Any future rule-based Dispatches will be announced separately through the Dispatches schedule.
What is the Ghost Train event in Dead Rails?
Ghost Train is the third confirmed Dispatch, scheduled for October 24, 2026. The announced premise is raiding a ghost train that travels parallel to your team's train. Its start times, World Events, Rules, Challenges, and rewards are all not yet announced.
